Hello All. I have just bought a 2010 Grand Picasso.
Its got a very slow change from first to second then progressively faster changes upward.
I want to change the transmission fluid. Easily found the drain plug. Where is the filler cap or plug?
Regards Whitworth

Not sure on that autobox, but some other cars just use the dipstick tube as the filler.

Thanks for the response. I cant see a dipstick or filler. I am thinking its under the battery.

Thanks Rusty. Its an auto not the EGS.As far as I know the EGS was not common in Australia.
I looked at the guides but still unsure as to what model number pertains to the six speed auto.
One I looked at is filled with a special attachment through the drain plug??

Don’t think they have dipstick or filter from outside, I filled mine under the battery from the breather hole. I used a hose that fits the breather pipe and used a funnel on the other end and let gravity do its things didn’t use any special tools.

Hello Sarchnary,
I see your C4 is a newer model. I presume its a six speed auto.
I dont know if they have to same automatic gear boxes.
Thanks for the tip about looking under the battery for the breather.
what type of fluid did you use and what quantity?
I have just bought the car. There is a gap in the service records so I dont know if the wrong oil has been used previously.
I will post my findings about the filler if I can find it.

I had the older model and I was referring to that one which was a 2008 reg.
Does yours have the flappy paddles on the steering wheels or not? Just to rule out the egs thingy. Is yours 2.0 hdi or 1.6 hdi

There is a photo - Click Here -
plus some other tips I’ll see if I can find out the oil type and correct amount once I know fore sure your is fully automatic

Not quite sure what has happened to the above post!

For information for all, both full auto and EGS have flappy paddles. The simlpest way to tell the difference is that the full auto has a park position on the gear selector, EGS does not.

Thankyou Routemaster,
Mine does not have a park position.
Now I am a bit worried as the EGS appears not to have the best reputation.

I have never had one with the P position, so does it mean its all EGS actually as if an automatic has M then the flappy paddles changes gear up and down, which means it needs an actuator and that makes it semi-auto isn't?

once I had mine had three attempts at one deanships couldn't decide wether its auto or semi auto. first they put 7L of ATF then said No it needs 7L of Manual transmission oil (both time they put wrong oil in actuator too) and finally the third time said it needs 2L MTF and but the actuator oil is different and gearbox had to be flushed as they put wrong oil in and in the actuator too, I wasn't charged by the first two but was happy to pay the last one, then I found about this website I wish I found this earlier before all that headache.

I feel like either they put wrong oil in actuator or gearbox.

If it has actuator oil is clear or yellow not red like ATF, same for the gearbox it takes 2L manual gearbox oil.

Mine had to be flushed due to wrong oil was put in as per above reply.

actuator oil even the level if it gets low then it gives you trouble - Click Here -

gearbox oil - Click Here -

I know a lot of people complain about egs but its not that bad, however i had to use the lexia to do clutch retethering once or twice a year and it was like new, I much enjoyed it more than the 6 speed manual I have now.
