Morning,

I'm new here. I bought a 2.0 HDi VTS Coupe yesterday. I have tried searching and i've not come up with a specific solution to my problem.

When the car is cold and first started it jumps/stutters around 1500/2000rpm for about the first mile to 2 miles. As soon as its warm it doesn't do it. I have read a few topics on this but none of them seem to cover it only doing it when it's cold.

Also it doesn't feel like the turbo is always working. Took it for a good blast to clear its throat after been stood on the forecourt for a while. I had to make a quick stop to collect something and when I started it up the next time it was a completely different car like it had woken up and went like stink.
Later on i picked a friend up and the car went back to feeling slow like the turbo wasnt working again. Again i made a stop and it seemed like it had come back to life again.

I'm no expert but i've had a Peugeot HDi before this and im lead to believe these could be linked down to a blocked/faulty EGR or the pipes coming loose on the turbo?

If anyone could shed any light on this i'd be very grateful

Probably an issue with a glow plug/circuit for the first start issue

The plugs operate pre and post start until the engine is warmed up

Also check the fuel filter is clean, there's no water in there and there are no air leaks

You need to get the car hooked up to an OBII code reader, preferably Lexia/Proxia and see what error codes are showing in the log

Thanks, I did think fuel filter but I'm not that confident in playing with them as I have read of many air leak stories with the 306 HDi I previously had.

I'm guessing the filter housing will be roughly the same as the 306 HDi I had with the drain port underneath? - I will do a search on it

I do have a USB code reader so I'll see if anything is logged. Where is the port located on the C4?

The OBD port is located under the ashtray - just pull out the ash tray and you'll see it.

Ok, so I've driven it a few times today.

There has been no juddering at all today, just had a little hesitation about 2000rpm and then it's been boosting just fine. Seems to be getting better the more it is driven.

I have plugged it into my obd reader and it has come up with a few codes.

"Stored Trouble Codes"
P1435 Unknown Diagnostic Trouble Code
P2562 Turbocharger Boost Control Position Sensor "A" Circuit
P0490 Exhaust Gas Recirculation "A" Control Circuit High

I must add that at no point has an engine management light come on since I've owned the car

Error Code P1435 = Additive system : No communication with additive ECU

How many miles has your 2.0 HDi done?

111,000 Miles, I have got a receipt with it that says the additive system has been looked at due to a previous communication error at 70,000miles.

It says it was topped up, wiring behind the glovebox was checked, ecu was replaced, reading were taken and checked out ok.

P1435 Additive Reservoir/Additive Pump
P2562 Turbo/Turbo Solenoid/Copy Position Sensor/Vacuum Circuit Leak
P0490 EGR Valve/ Particulate Filter Overload

If you only bought it yesterday, consider taking it back as 'Not Fit For Purpose'

I've got the same car with the same faults and still cannot fix the car, its been to 2 garages including Citroen and has had a load of sensors, EGR valve and a new turbo fitted but still the same.

So it's off to a Independent Citroen Specialist today to see if they can diagnose the problem, will let you know what they come up with.

Might be worth taking it to a diesel specialist.

Thanks guys. Taking it back was not one of the options I want to do as I seem to have taken a shine to it. I did however get a 3 month warranty with it so I'm looking to have a go at that route.

After more driving it seems that if I drive it for a couple of miles from cold, stop the engine and restart it then it works flawlessly. I have been reading this could be something to do with the wastegate and the vacuum pipe going to it that rubs though.

In the meantime any other ideas are welcome.

Craig: Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for your reply.

OK got a call from the garage today and the problem they have found is the DPF is blocked, they are going to check and test the system tomorrow to see why the the DPF is blocked.

They need to check the Eolys tank to make sure it has not ran out of fluid, but they think the probable cause is the sensor if the diesel filler tube not trigger the Eolys and thus blocking the filter and do a regeneration of the DPF.

The guy who is working on the car took it out with the laptop connected and he's says everything else on the car seems fine and the blocked DPF has to be addressed first.
