I assume you have checked the brake switch? that's the culprit in 99% of cases.

If it was leaking air reducing turbo boost it could be that the ECU declined requests for cruisecontrol activation because of the errors caused.

It's likely to be a dirty controlswitch on the steering wheel.
If it's OK now, just forget it.
