Good evening, I’m after some help if possible? I have a 2014 c4gp 1.6 exclusive ETG6 and have had 8 months of happy driving until last weekend when the car jerked while moving from 3rd to 4th gear initially I thought nothing of it until I stopped and when it started again it was really jerky in all gears so I pulled into the petrol station and the gearbox faulty sign came up and the service light came on , I couldn’t move the car as the gears didn’t seem to engage. I called the AA and the guy was so negative he just said he’d seen hundreds of French cars do the same, he cleared the faults without reading them and said it would cost me thousands to repair ( I don’t have hundreds let alone thousands) anyway he towed me home and helped me up the driveway and he said i needed specialist software to access the gearbox ECU. Anyway after browsing forums I decided to get an elm327 and purchased fap and have managed to get the following fault code p1739, p1830 and u2003. Has anyone ever come across this sequence before? Thanks in advance it's the school holidays and I'm off work with no where to go .

I would check the connectors on the gearbox to start with.

Click the red link in your post for one of the codes.

Sounds like the AA guy is a Brexit fan

If its a software problem it might be worth disconnecting the battery, enjoying a slow coffee while everything forgets what it was doing, then reconnecting. Long shot but free.

Did you ever see the episode of wheeler Dealer where they bought a Porsche with a faulty auto gearbox but Edd China discovered it only needed topping up with gear box fluid, then it worked perfectly . . . Just an idea

I’d be checking the actuator fluid, connections for the gearbox and also the cars battery - gearbox failure is usually indicated by a whining noise, this sounds like a fault that with a bit of effort could be traced.

Thanks all, the actuator fluid looks ok however the cable that plugs into the gearbox is really dirty with oil, access is a nightmare by the looks of it though to take it out and clean it, I will try though and then maybe drop the gear oil and gauge how much has leaked out and then refill with fresh gearbox oil and I know I will still have a potential leak to repair but for the cost of £15 worth of oil it will confirm it that's the cause.

Anyone know the best way to access all the wiring loom connections? From the top or do I need to remove the underside covers? Sorry if I sound thick.
