Has anyone had their handbrake button/lever fail?
Mine seems to engage very intermittently and is slightly lopped sided (see attached pic).
I'm wondering whether its the button or something underlying?
When the button stops working the auto handbrake kicks in so it makes me think the mechanical side of the handbrake is still functioning fine, when the car gets turned off the auto handbrake kicks in, when you touch the accelerator it releases fine.

My other question is, what is this button (see attached pic)?
There is no mention of it in my manual at all?

To get at it you need to pull up on the fascia. Open the top boxes on the dash first though.

The other switch is for disabling the parking sensors.

There are 2 microswitches that need to be pressed together to operate the park brake, when it's like yours it only operates 1 switch! I had the same problem, it's an easy fix, 5 minutes and about £30 for new brake leaver. The shroud that surrounds the brake leaver and curves towards centre instrument screen unclip's easily, just be gentle. Then you will see the leaver. 2 clips to press it will then come out, just a electrical connector and then fit your new unit.
If you pay my flight I'll come and fit it for you 😇

KenC, has the levers bracket/mount just come away, as its lopped sided maybe it just needs popping back in (wishful thinking!)?
Or do you think it will somehow be broken and def need replacing?
Are there any dash removal guides in the members area, I have a habit of breaking clips

Also is the part number 470702?
470703 seems to be similar but shiny and for newer models?

Honestly it's easy to remove the surround, then you can see what problem you have, the leaver has 2 pivot points one may have broken so your not making both switches together. Just be gentle and have a go.

Spot on, pivot bracket has snapped on one side. 2 min fix.
Thanks.
