Hi, I have a 2014 Grand C4 Picasso 7 seater 2 litre Diesel Automatic. Recently the 2 front seatbelts give small tugs intermittently while driving. The seatbelts for the driver and passenger don't tug at the same time but both started having this issue about the same time (2 months ago)

Any advice on how to remedy most appreciated.

Are you sure that this is not the lane departure warning? They should also tug when you start moving.

Thanks for the responses. I don't think its the lane departure warning routemaster1 as I had the feature turned off for a while and it was still tugging. Plus I am driving on small country roads and not switching lanes (But I could be wrong.

I do think it might be related to the pre-tensioners iscom . But how to resolve this I don't know. Any further thoughts please ?

They come on when you first start to drive and if you brake hard also think they work if your driving to close a vehicle Not sure how you can resolve the problem other than a contact a Citroen dealer

pre-tensioners also works when you move the steering wheel very quickly whilst driving. It happened to me in the car park, I must be at about 5-8 mph speed and turned the steering very quickly to park in the bay and pre-tensioners worked.

I brought it to a mechanic and he said I needed two new front seatbelts at a cost of approx €400 each. I would probably go ahead if I was 100% sure this would fix the problem. In my case the tugging could happen on a straight road even at low speed driving in a straight line. I did notice that there was some work done on the connector under the drivers seat. Some of wires are not in the plug and have been manually connected using small single wire crimped connectors.

Are your seats heated? €400?? mine cost £995 yes! Nine Hundred and Ninety-Five UK pounds for the drivers' side belt . . do you have a lane departure warning? was this a Citroen dealer or a garage

Hi iscom, my seats are not heated . No I don't have any warnings up on the dash. It wasn't with a Citroen garage but it was with a mechanic that works on Citroen cars pretty much exclusively.

The fact that the 2 seatbelts just started having this issue about the same time made me think this must to more than just individual seat belts.

I am no expert but do you think it could be a software glitch maybe need a software update?. I know your guy may have experience working on Citroens but the dealer should have all the updated data to pinpoint what the problem is. No point in paying €800 plus for belts which may not solve the problem. I think it's always best to get a second opinion

Many thanks for all the replies. I turned on and off the lane assist 2 days ago and also turned off and all seems ok since. I will monitor for the next week.

Just a quick note of thanks to all who responded. After a week of switching of the lane assist no reoccurrence of the tugging when driving on my local counrty roads. Thankfully I did not go ahead and change the seat belts at great cost. Delighted with the correspondence on this forum
