The problem started with the electrics going haywire and the wipers stopped working. When stopped, the engine would not restart and displayed the Immobilizer warning message. After disconnecting and grounding the battery positive lead, the engine restarted OK (I believe this allowed the ECU to re-boot). But now the Immobilizer warning sign comes on every time the ignition is switched on again after being turned off.

Hello, sweetbriar6, and welcome to C4 Owners.org. Sorry to hear fof your problems. I take it your car is more than 3 years and out of warranty. 5 or 3 door? Is this immobiliser warning now the only warning message, and your wipers and so on work OK? Was it the front windscreen wipers? Is it just a warning about the immobiliser - the car starts OK? and everything else is OK? |

Yes more than 3 years old and out of warranty. It's 5 door and the immobilizer warning is the only one that appears. The (front) wipers work OK now (they went out of sequence to begin with). Everything else works OK and the car still starts.
