Frequently Asked Questions

Question
Accelerator Sensor - Magneti Marelli 6lpb fuel injection

Answer
Sensor incorporated in the accelerator pedal (1261)

Role of the sensor :

To register the driver demand (acceleration, decelaration)

To deliver the information to the injection ECU

Role of the injection ECU according to the data received :

To determine the opening of the motorised butterfly

To determine the injection time

To determine the ignition advance

Description

The accelerator pedal sensor provides 2 signals (voltage) .

The voltage value of one signal is equivalent to half of the other one .

Items of information from the connector channels are constantly compared with each other to detect a possible fault .

N.B. : The accelerator pedal sensor does not have a contact .

Electrical features

Allocation of the connector channels :

Channel 1 : Output signal 1

Channel 2 : Earth

Channel 3 : Output signal 2

Channel 4 : 5 Volts

The accelerator pedal has a point of resistance switch on vehicles fitted with a speed limiter .

" a " 4 -way connector .

(2) "point of resistance" switch .

" b " 2 -way connector .

Allocation of the connector channels : "point of resistance" switch :

Channel 1 : Accelerator pedal point of resistance signal

Channel 2 : Earth

Accelerator pedal released :

Voltage between earth and channel 1 : 0,3 to 0,6 volt

Voltage between earth and channel 3 : 0,15 to 0,3 volt

Accelerator pedal pressed fully down :

Voltage between earth and channel 1 : 3,5 to 4 volts

Voltage between earth and channel 3 : 1,75 to 2 volts
