If there's some freeplay in the handbrake lever on initial travel it could be the handbrake lever on the caliper seized / sticking. Had this exact problem with mine - doused it in WD40 and worked it on...

Coil pack possibility. More serious. Head gasket? Coolant leaking into bores overnight? Doesn't fit everything you say though.

I'd throw in Coolant Temp sensor as a suggestion. Sounds like it might be reading incorrectly at cold, resulting in over fuelling. (Rough running / difficult/impossible starting.)

What is the gearbox code and oil change for the EGS gearbox? Forum -> C4 Picasso Problems and issues

ML6C is the manual 6 speed - MCP (manuel contrôler pilote - piloted manual gearbox) is the EGS version. (internally a virtually identical box - just with a hydraulic actuator unit bolted to the casing...

Injector seal questions Forum -> C4 Coupe and Hatch (pre 2011) Problems?

Don't really get problems with injectors sticking on these. But make sure they get the engine nice and hot before they start attempting removal.
