I have just bought a proper spoiler for my VTR+ but it is just the spoiler.

The seller said that it isn't absolutely necessary to upgrade the struts.

What are your views? Would it be best to replace the struts also? if so where is the best place to get them?

I have read the threads on fitting the new spoiler and seems fairly straight forward ... if a little tricky.

Experienced views always appreciated having only had the car for 2 days and already feeling the need of a spoiler!

How much did you spend on the spoiler? Also it does not have any bubbling does it? Common issue a problem with the resin on some of them? If it is an official spoiler they come sprayed black and complete with the upgraded struts. Basically ready to fit.

As a brand new one sprayed, with struts is £200 to premier members.

The Citroen guide makes it look harder than it actually is to fit the spoiler.

I haven't got it yet as still in post, so cant comment on bubbling.. if there is any, it will be sanded and resprayed before fitting!

The ad said "genuine Citroen part"... always taken with a pinch of salt where eBay is concerned!
Cost - £75 (+£20 p&p) which I thought was reasonable.. depends on the actual item when it arrives... I shall let you know!

They are on eBay for about £170 but obviously no guarantee of Dealer Protection.

The spoiler is really easy to fit not sure if the struts are a 100% necessary but you may have to watch your fingers and noggin Fitted one to my c4 like a few days after I bought it

The upgraded struts aren't 100% necessary, but the boot will slam much harder without them. They are much stiffer to take the extra weight on closing. Will possibly do damage over time if it shuts too hard.

Cheers Chadd,

I arrived home to find a card saying that parcel was attempted to be delivered whilst I was on Holiday... went to P/O and collected it. Not the best wrapped and gutted to find the 2 lower rear corners a little scuffed and chipped due to the bad packing of the seller - no bubbling tho, and genuine part,

Just need to get the corners sealed and smoothed before fitting... old spoiler has been removed pending fitting (may have slightly broke a couple of clips along the way!) so best get on with it!

You'll find that happens nearly every time you remove interior trim

Yeah, also fitted a 4 way socket adaptor under the steering column today, managed to break 2 pins on the centre panel in the process... at least it wedges in position, and comes out easier for next time i need access!
