Yesterday I test-drove a C4GP (2.0 HDi EGS), for about 35 miles (mix of urban, A road, and Motorway) and I have to say that I came away very impressed. Good points: Ease of access, great visibility and very easy to drive - important for anyone who has, like me disability / mobility issues. Engine flexibility - from 50-70mph in 6th gear was pretty quick for such a large car. EGS 'box - Nice to have 6 gears, and the paddles were fun. Not so good points: EGS 'box - The slight 'lurch' between changes (though I believe that would get smoother with practice). As mentioned in an earlier thread, I have one of these on order through the Motability scheme, and at current prices the EGS equipped VTR+ models are the bargain of the year. Currently £345 for 1.6hdi or £545 for 2.0hdi, for either the 5 or 7 seaters. Really looking forward to getting mine now. Ed |

I've got so used to the EGS that I usually don't notice the gear changes any more. It definitely requires a slightly different driving style, but the end result can be as smooth as a CVT/automatic. | ||

My Brother is having the same car but the 5 seat version. I have got Motability to change his 58 2009 C3 1.6i Exclusive Auto early as its no longer suitable for him. He let me decide on the engine choice as he is on a War Pension both the 1.6HDi EGS and 2.0HDi EGS VTR+ are Nil Deposit for him as War Pension Customers pay more each week so I spoke to the salesman I know well and I agreed the 2.0HDi is the best option. As I will be driving it as well I wanted something with power close to my C2 1.6i 16v VTR SensoDrive and I know my brother would like the extra power as well. As of today the car still aint built yet but he only ordered it last Friday. |
