C4GP 08 plate. Here is my experience.never had a problem before. owned last 5 years.First came up with ESP/ASR system fault.Stop light, service light , engine light ,ABS light , ESP light, Park light all on...I ignored for 2 days , keep swithed on and off untill warning gone and system let go brakes.Doing that made it worse .
More fault warnings came.
-Braking system faulty
-ABS Braking system faulty
- ESP/ASR faulty
-Parking brake faulty
-Gearbox faulty
and beeping sound.

When gearbox fault came I lost speed display ,limited speed.

Took it local Citroen dealer today.

They said:
CARRIED OUT GLOBAL TEST .REMADE WIRING CONNECTIONS TO UNDER BONNET FUSE BOX ,CLEARED FAULT CODES.

They charged 42.50 plus VAT total of 51 pounds.

Aparently a wiring was loose in fuse box under bonet. So that they said charged half an hour labour. They said they took the car for run , it is okey... I drove this afternoon ,everything seems okey.

Hello BigChef

Do you know what wire they repaired as I have a similar issue?

Cheers

Don't forget to check the obvious stuff for a faulty handbrake.
This is what mine turned out to be!

New cable arrived but the electric handbrake had taken up the slack and I now couldn't hook up the cable.
Tried to compress the handbrake levers with two trolley jacks to get a bit more length but no joy.
Had to use the manual unwind tool to loosen the cable, which it did.
Attached the cable and then turned the ignition off and on. The handbrake took up the slack and no is working correctly.
Glad it's working again, even though I did buy an expensive scanner in a moment of shandy fuelled, impulse buying, internet shopping.

My 07 plate C4 Grand Picasso developed an increasingly frequent Handbrake Faulty/ ESP faulty warning. I ignored it for over a year then the warning became permanent about 4 weeks ago and the automatic brakes did not work.

I called my local independent Citroen specialist who said there was one other car being looked at with the same problem. He asked me to get the main Citroen dealership to run a diagnostic. Citroen charged me £56 to tell me that they couldn't tell what was wrong, but if I gave them two more hours at £110+VAT per hour they might be able to work out the problem, but this was not guaranteed.

I had read this forum so refused to allow further work. I took the car to the local specialist this morning, for a full service, new back brakes and the Handbrake/ ESP fault.

They found that when the MAF (Mass Airflow Switch) was disconnected, the brakes worked as normal. So, they fitted a new MAF but the problem with the brakes persisted.

I have a choice. No automatic breaks or no MAF. We've gone for MAF just now. Does anyone know what effect unplugging the MAF will have on the performance or health of the engine?

Hi. I am new to this forum. I get the same issue on my 58 C4GP. I am reading that they seem to be a lot reasons for this fault. can any one clarify what may be the problem. also get a pollution fault come up which causes the car to go into limp mode then cut out. Any ideas? Can replies try to be in plain English as I know nothing about cars.

You need to get the car to a garage so the faults can be read - preferably by Citroen's own diagbox otherwise you'll be starting at the top of a long list of reasons without any clues.

C4GP 14 plate. Just had same problem as you, got booked in to garage at the end of the week. Display showing the following faults. Hoping it's just a minor problem.
- parking brake fault
- anti roll back system fault
- ESP/ASR system fault
- ABS fault
- Tyre inflation monitor fault
Also SatNav, cruise control not working properly.

did this get resolved pls?
Mine is showing
"anti roll back system fault"

and also

" ESP/ASR system fault Have the vehicle repaired" messages......

Now it's gone off and not showing any lights or doing any beeps!!!
Also Torque fault reader shows no codes and so no faults.

Hi
Can someone help? I have a c4 Picasso 07 plate since I bought the car 2 years ago it’s been a big sluggish and stutters when I pulled off. From one day to another it’s now pulling off brilliantly which I enjoy but my service light came on and now every time I press breaks or put indicators on it tells me my indicator light is faulty which it not brake light fault which it not and so on it’s gone through all the lights but they all work. Got it serviced but still all faults still coming up.

Possibly a faulty EGR valve, battery or engine bay fusebox but you really need to know the associated fault codes.

C4gp 2012 asr/ esp light on and off for last few months and turning car on and off seemed to clear it. Happened last year after delay of about 5k in servicing. This time about 10k delay in minor service and all 4 wheels off to check disks etc. Ever since asr/ esp warning on and off and today engi e fault.take to garage. But by the end of the day all codes cleared. Esp does not seem to come on when forcing wheelspin though. Not been to main Dealer for about 3 years.who said bring in and plug into system for check up and downloads costing £112 for 1st hr.

Car runs ok etc so dont know what's going on...not sure if wheels coming off has loosened something or the damp and thick fog we've had for the past 4 days??? Any suggestions?

You need to get the fault codes read otherwise you don't know where to start but if you've had the EGR valve replaced, I suspect the battery or engine bay fusebox will be top of the list.
