Hi. I had a problem with my dashboard cupboard, it looks like that the catch has broken and it will not lock in the down position. So I am looking to see if they a replacement part or is it a complete item if so how much and is it easy to replace it? Can any one help? |

Common problem - will require complete lid. Are you not still under warranty? If not, they are anything from £90 up to £200 depending on whether you have a chrome surround to the button, or your compartment is illuminated (not sure whether any UK spec C4 Pics have illumination???) |

Had both of ours replaced under warranty (at different times). After the passenger one failed we were extremely careful in opening/closing them. Then we found the dealer had broken the driver's side one after it went in for an unrelated trim problem. The illumination is a Heath Robinson affair, the light shines up against the inside of the lid where some chrome sticky labels redirect the light into the box itself. |

Hi I had this problem with my wifes c4 Grand picasso. Top box on passenger side doesn't stay closed. Faced with a load of money to replace it I thought I would have a go myself.. Fixed it yay! here is how Firstly removed the lid from the car, there is a blanking plate at the back and once removed you will see 4 torx screws that will need to be removed. The damper rod on the inside edge of the lid is very flexible and can be eased over its fixing allowing the whole lid to be removed from the car. Looking at it I found that the lid is two halves of a clam shell that are glued together with some bits of old horse. Using a 1” chisel and working from the rear edge of the lid I was able quite easily to separate the two. I broke a couple of plastic welds holding the metal hinge / strengthener to the bottom clam so you may want to beware of that. You could try cutting a small hole through the underside of the lid of Glued the two halves back together with araldite and it is back in the car and working fine. Cost = ¼ tube of araldite, a small bolt that I found in the shed, 2 gin and tonics and an hour of my time. Hope this helps |

My wife has just done this to our C4 Picasson VTR+ The thought of a potential £200 repair (for a plastic lid!!!) was sending us to the divorce courts when I saw Richard's tutorial. I've got as far a removing the screws but I'm not quite sure how to get the damper rod disconnected. Does it come off at the top or the bottom where I can't see the connector? I've watched the funky video a couple of times but can't figure out how they do it. |

Ok, further to my last post - I watched the video again and paused it so I could type the spanish caption into google translator and it says "lift up being careful not to push hard because the hydraulic arm can not be removed" What's your secret Richard? I'm a heavy handed [%*^#@!] at the best of times so I really want to be careful so I don't wreck the rest of the mechanism while trying to fix the lid! |

All fixed now. The damper rod thingy was surprisingly flexible right enough - funny how it didn't seem that way when I first looked at it. Got the parts separated, fixed the latch and slapped it back together with the araldite. Thanks for the walk through guys. Think it's only fair that I upgrade to full membership as a proper payback. |

I am at the same stage trying to disconnect the damper rod. Any advise greatly appreciated. |

OK got it. It comes off at the top. With all screws removed lift lid and turn outboard edge towards you. Put thumb on the stud and press top of rod over the stud. |

Have tried magnetic tape to no avail, bid on a couple of lids on Ebay but missed them, so will give this a go at the weekend. Let you know how I get on. Thanks. |
