Just past the three month mark and a shade under two thousand miles and absolutely delighted with it. I live in London and don’t drive much at all during the week but have been on several long trips to Cornwall and Shropshire and, as reported here, it eats the miles effortlessly. The 2.0 engine is powerful and and 6th gear just makes motorway cruising a breeze….1st is a little short perhaps, but I guess this is the way with diesels - its my first. It seems rather better bolted together than my old C2 and with considerably more heft and I’m constantly surprised at how quiet it is with the acoustic glass. The cabin is spacious and I like the display…I wasn’t sure at first; it felt a bit plasticky but I’ve grown to love it and the ease of use of limiter and cruise control. The handling is sharp on the 17” TokkaTokka and exalto combination though the ride is a little harsh on the appalling London roads around Wandsworth. Thinking about a re-map maybe in 6 months when it’s properly run in but still have concerns over the warranty situation and I think its probably sufficiently powerful as it is. Had another good experience with Citroen London West who have consistently exceeded my expectations and did on my last car . The same cannot be said of BMW Croydon (who had no interest in selling me a car whatsoever) and Alfa Romeo in Epsom (who, despite arranging me two cars to test one weekend, failed to provide one of the cars and the other had the Sales manager’s golf clubs sticking out of the back seat: Wife less than impressed.) For the money and considering the extras you get, I feel like I made the right decision – I’m a very satisfied customer. |

Thanks CecilM You now know why it made sense to go for a C4 Diesel and as you say with the sound deadening laminated acoustic glass they really are superb motorway cruisers But yes they can be just a little firm on poor quality roads - just not what you expect from a French Car |

Just wait - after 6 months its even better! My 2.0HDI Exclusive has just passed its 6 month 6500 mile birthday and as the engine loosens up it gets more and more flexible. I agree with everything CecilM says. The only downer has to be that back end. I wince every time I go over a pothole at more than 15mph. Its on a different planet compared to my old Xsara, but before that I had a ZX turbo diesel and that will take a lot of beating. But the C4 is getting there. |

My first diesel was a Xantia 2.0 HDi and that was a great cruiser Only problem was the link to the suspension compensator valve at the back kept going which was a real pain so while the hydropnuematic was good most of the time it just wasn't reliable However the engine was a real winner |
