Okay...

Seems the trip is just a tiny tad out of sync with the speedo mileometer.. but only by 0.9

This was this mornings view..

The car had 0006 on the speedo when I picked it up.. I know I twiddled with the controls at first but don't think I reset anything.. though I now have 3 speedo photo's that shows there is a 0.9 mile difference between trip and speedo..

Of course the other point is.. the Speedo is only recording Whole Miles.. where the trip is showing the decimal after the mile.

So as far as I can tell it's okay,,

I'd be more concerned if the speedo was out !!
I have gone through numerous 30 & 40 mph speed cameras and it's clearly okay..

I am STILL well happy with the motor... so I aint dwelling on this any more !

Okay.. sometime over the next few days, I shall have to refuel and fill up for the 2nd time

How do I zero the trips.. the manual isnt exactly clear on this..

1)On the main dash ? I assume I push the TRIP button on the left ? for a certain length of time or what ?

2)On the radio /multi display ... do I enter the trip mode then keep the stalk button pressed or what ?

Even a 1.6 Hdi Cool's 1st tank of fuel cannot go on forever!

1) On the main dash..just press the "TRIP" button once..it will reset the trip on the left of the main screen

2) With the stalk..enter into the trip and goto any reading except the instaneous MPG..and hold the button in for a few moments and that will reset the trip.

Cheers Ciaran,

thanks for that...
didn't want to start re-setting anything before I saw how much I can get out of the tank

err,,circa 700 miles ish on the 1st tank is darn good going !!

Got the low fuel warning indicator beep today and the bottom two fuel nuggets were flashing .. seemed to rapidly go down to 1 flashing nugget and around 74 ish miles range left.

However not knowing, just how accurate this thing is.. I have now filled up and zero'd the trips..

That said I managed to get 54.30 litres into the tank..so 5.5 ish litres left would have given me the estimated range..so it seems fairly accurate.

All in all 700 ish miles on the first tank is brilliant...

Here's the dash before the fill up.. the camera caught the flashing nugget in between flashes

Very impressive for a new engine..

This Just gets Better !!
Our C4 Cool, is 3 weeks old today ( well, from delivery date).. I have today clocked up and passed the 1,000 mile mark...

The fuel consumption, continues to improve, currently reading 64.1 mpg and this is ALL town /city driving.

I really am mightily impressed with this car and particularly the 1.6 HDI engine.

Hi all, I have a 1.6 HDI VTR+ (110bhp) nearly three years old excellent motor, minor niggles but fuel consumption isnt one of them, generally get 58+ average even around town, always in excess of 60 on runs.
Recentley went to Normandy for a week, wasnt in a hurry and cruised at 60/63 for miles on the French motorway, reset the computer and registered 78 MPG average over 200 miles ish, what can you say brilliant I say.

I have a 1.6hdi (110) coming up to 3 weeks old and i am getting nowhere near your figures. I don't drive it hard not a boy racer but i am averaging 45mpg, should it get better or do i query it at the first service.

110bhp does use more fuel than the 92bhp and will get better once you get some miles on the clock - handbook does tell you things should improve as the engine beds in above 3,000 miles or was that more?

I've had one of those days and my brains gone numb - will check the handbook later though I know mine got better after a while and others have confirmed the same

Hi all, I must admit to driving fairy gently, but having said that I live in South Essex and if you dont know this area is rather congested to say the least, I did fill up and check the MPG against the computer readout and it is definately correct, the worst that I have ever got on a tank average is the low 50s. as I said the best the high 70s, but that was at a constant cruise control speed of 63, it obviously goes down to 60 on steep hills. I find that cruise is up and down depending on the road condition, but whatever still brill.

So is it driving style or what, I really dont know, I had a Lexus GS300 before and used to get in the high 20s in that so perhaps I am more gentle than I know!!!!

regards
