Help!
I have a 2006 C4 1.6 HDI. Started to overheat in traffic… *RED STOP* flashes on dashboard. After fitting a new thermostat yesterday, the problem is still there.
Here is what I know: on dashboard, temperature spikes from 3 bars to 6 bars in a split second. Under the bonnet, fan does not come on when engine is getting too hot, so this is the problem. Question is; why doesn’t the fan come on ?
If the engine is running and I turn on the A/C, the fan comes on. If I unplug the sensor on the thermostat housing, the fan comes on. If I piggyback the sensor plug, the fan comes on.
If I am driving the car, even on motorways, the car doesn’t overheat, in fact it runs a 2 bars on the dashboard, but in traffic, where air circulation is reduced, the fan doesn’t come on itself when the engine is getting too hot.
Any advice would be appreciated.
