2009 C4 Picasso diesel manual.
So I changed the battery and now it seems to be necessary to put the clutch in when trying to start the car otherwise nothing happens other than a fan like noise.

It's my daughter's car so I don't have too much access to it but I think it's related to the handbrake being on as I think when it's not then starting is normal.
I stress the word "think" as I've not been able to do any thorough tests to confirm this theory.

Prior to the battery change it was just key in , turn it and engine starts fine.
I found changing the battery a chore and disconnected a few things but I'm sure everything went back as it should.

I'm fairly sure depressing the clutch pedal is normal to start the car. Certainly was on my 2005 C4 so I can't imagine it's any different for a Picasso.
