When I switch on the engine, the orange SERVICE light comes on. Sometime the Check Oil light also comes on. If I switch engine off, and then on again, the lights do not appear.
The oil level is fine. Service is not due for another 5000 miles.

Can anyone tell me why this happens and does it need urgent attention.

Which engine do you have and what mileage has the car done? It could be an issue if you have the 1.2 petrol engine.

The orange light and the word Service do not relate to regular servicing. It means there is a fault detected and although the oil level is correct it could be oil pressure. (or the relating sensor)
To be sure you need to get the fault code read.
