Please bear with me, bit of an opus this one. Started as a random stalling issue, when the car was restarted everything was fine. Then a load of errors came up on the dash saying Engine Management fault, handbrake fault, ABS fault etc etc. Restarted and they all went away, but the service light stayed on. Drove home and when it was started again the service light went out and all seemed well. Got my mechanic to come and read the faults anyway, but when I started it to move it off the drive to give him better access, the car stalled and then wouldn't restart, it cranks and cranks, but doesn't fire. He tried the check the codes, but the OBD port didn't have power, so replaced the OBD fuse and then he could read them, but the only code that was showing was that the engine ECU could not be read due to error on the CAN ? So he suggested another BSI, got a BSI , fitted it and still exactly the same... Where do I go from here?

Hopefully one of you will know.

Cheers for listening

It seems to me that BSM is the issue. Fuse box in the engine area, not the one in the cabin. I had the same errors when my BSM got water

Sorry I should have been clearer. I have already replaced the BSM under bonnet unit, and I'm getting the same result.

I would check then fuses on the top of the battery. Water is usually ti blame in cases of BSM failure or fuses on the battery. In my case the carpet about engine was soaked in water. Due its weight fell on the fuses which are on the top of the battery
