My sis-in-law has a 2014 grand picasso, and a load of random errors have appeared.
I checked the battery and it was about 12v, but doesn't increase with engine running.

It's a 1.6 diesel (I think), with turbo right at the front, different to mine that is a 2.0HDi.

Do these have simple alternators that just output all the time, or is it one of these smart ones that can switch the charging off and on. It has a connector with 5 wires going into the alternator, so I'm guessing more than just a simple one that just outputs 14v.

Just trying to rule out BCM before saying she needs a new alternator.

Are there any alternator specific fuses for this car? I dont have the handbook.

Come on picasso owners, someone must know about the alternator to save me hunting for the drawings and tracing it all back.

Does anyone know if its possible to replace smart alternator with basic one? 2.0 hdi at6 2014. Car does not have s&s active anyway.

EDIT: what I know, is that you can easily change alternator setting in diagbox. You can select basic alternator etc. You can disable start&stop. Only things need figure out is physical installation - isnthe bracket and distance to belt same - I this they are. Electrical side should be easy, just feed 12v to alternator pin to get 14.4v out. Not sure if some problems with not needed hardware in car: supercondensator and LIN-network on alternator. Maybe no fault codes if you select correct combination of settings in diagbox anyway.
