Citroen dealers parts departments very unhelpful

 Several times recently I've had need to buy parts that are only supplied by Citroen. We have multiple dealerships within a 5 mile radius, all different owners. All have been very unhelpful - to the point where one of them wouldn't sell me a sump plug washer!
They have all told me "We don't supply parts to the general public, you need to go to.........." and all directed me to a place 15+ miles from home in the opposite direction.
Has anyone else had this attitude from dealership parts departments? It seems to have only started since the COVID-19 pandemic.
If anyone can suggest a reliable parts supplier in County Durham or Northumberland, I'd be grateful.

 A lot of dealers are going that way. It's been coming for a while since the parts counter have been removed or hidden in the back somewhere.

Generally some try to help as they know that it's wrong, and there's usually a bit of resentment that the role is getting diminished. But citroen last time refused to give me the part number for the wiper motor on my car because I might search for it in motorfactors.

 I can't suggest a parts supplier in County Durham but maybe what I do may be able to be replicated. Near to where I live I have a very competant Citroen Peugeot Independant Garage. I need parts that are not easy to get from online suppliers I go in and ask for it, usually they will make a phone call and the part will be there within 24 hours or sometimes later the same day - parts I have obtained this way include a brake light switch for my daughters Cactus, the black plastic surround for my DS4 fog lamp, fuel filters for both and a replacemnt LED middle brake light to replace my faulty one on my C4

 - Click Here - for part numbers - have your VIN handy as there's so many variants.

Then it's likely to be case of Googling.
