Hi, This is my first post, and i have an big issue with this vehicle. The engine temp rises during driving, just after 10 - 15 minutes of driving up to speeds of about 35 mph, the gauge starts to go above normal water temp. When driving on highway with speeds above 50 mph, the temperature rises even more, and it starts boiling within 20 minutes. I have checked the coolant, the flow back to the reservoir is not an even stream. And it contains a bit of foam. The foam smells of exhaust. I suspect it is an issue with either the head gasket, or the EGR cooler. Is there any known problem with these parts or/and symptoms on these engines? Thanks in advanced. -Frederik- |

As it smells of diesel exhaust from the foam in the coolant that returns to the reservoir, i would not consider it to be a thermostat problem. Also the flow of the coolant is not even, it kind of comes in "chugs", I would also not condsidering it to be a thermostat problem. It feels more like an leak of exhaust in to the coolant some where. Like headgasket or EGR-cooler. -Frederik- |
