 My wing mirror was knocked off awhile ago and it was the below plastic tube thing that was broken, finally found this part for sale and tried to fit it today, I can't get the wing mirror to fit flush and securely to the car or get it to work as it should with the replacement part.
It's as if I need to somehow lock it in place before it'll work. Anyone else replaced one?

 Update, trying without the metal spring that wraps round it to keep it tight to the car I can see how it locks in place, trouble is I can't compress the spring enough and be able to turn it to lock it into position. Again if anyone's done this and used a tool that makes it easier please let me know

 Hi, did you ever get this sorted ? How does it lock into position on the stalk ?

I've got another thread with questions as I'm having to replace the whole unit as it got smashed at the moment I've just got the "stalk" on the door and wiring and thats it. A full replacement with stalk and bits of my smashed one.
