Hi All, Just come across this site which looks like the place I need to be having owned Citroen vehicles for the past 40 years. My wife's C4 VTR HDI diesel recently had error codes cleared that were re occurring by resetting the BSI unit. Car has ran for the past 6 weeks fine but a few days ago it came to a stop while driving. My friend looked at it at his repair shop and called me laughing and suggested that I buy some diesel as the C4 will not run on "fresh air". After a good laugh he said that there was no fuel in the tank. In my defense I pointed out that there was about 2 bars on the fuel gauge when it stopped. My question is could this be related to the BSI unit as I understand that the fuel level float unit is connected to it. Should the level indicator be reset or some sort of process be carried out after the BSI reset. Thanks in advance. |

The float/sender unit is either faulty or the system needs re-calibrating (which is a messy business requiring the tank to be filled and emptied). I can only suggest you fill the tank, check the guage shows full and watch it as you drive. Also reset the trip computer to watch average consumption. The low fuel warning should come on with 7 litres remaining. |

Sometimes after a BSI reset, some relays or fuses may be temporarily disabled or malfunctioning. A thorough inspection of these items could help resolve the problem |
