I collected my car off the garage the other day, and discovered a really awful bodge under the bonnet.
The chap didn't mention this "repair" for obvs. reason.

Now I don't do any work on my car (again, for obvious reason) and would like to know what this broken plastic cover does and if I need to worry/get a new one/get one from a breaker cheap.
All help much appreciated thanks.

If a kind soul can point me towards this elusive "attach file" button which I can't see in the BBcode menu that'd be super super appreciated.

The broken piece is on the right side of the bay area near the nearside headlamp unit. Rectangular hinged plastic lid that receives a large rubber hose. No idea what it does.
It got damaged when the guy put a new EGR valve in.

So yeah, no "file to attach" below button unlike what is mentioned.
Gotta love Bbcode for that "retro" touch.
Uurgh,,,

I just holds the end of engine air intake pipe, should be cheap enough to replace.

Why didn't they put the filter here instead of that awkward place behind the injector head?

In general, laziness and stupidity. But usually it'll be financial, so for some reason (greed?) saving £1 in manufacture means owners can suffer for that saving.
