Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and far from a car expert. I own a 2014 c4 grand picasso. The urea warning light came on a few weeks ago so I topped up the tank with adblue as usual. The warning light didn't disappear. This has happened before but usually goes out after 1 or 2 longer runs in the car. This time however it still hadn't gone out when I reached the '300 mile until start prevention' warning. So I took it into the garage (an independent citroen specialist). Bad news was that it needed a whole new tank, heat shield and some sort of connection pipe(?). Total cost with labour £1600!!! He did say that some of his previous customers have had success in claiming this back from citroen as shouldn't have to expect to replace the tank. He thought some of it was down to the tank being overfilled. But I find it pretty tricky for it not to overflow - not great design or placement). Has anyone had a similar issue and/or taken it up with citroen? Thanks |

There wass an issue with Adblue tanks, and ther was a recall to change the cap. If your car hasn't been serviced by Citroen it is possible that the cap hasn't been changed it may have caused the issue. I'm not aware that overfilling has been suggested as a cause. £1600 seems a little expensive, but it has been quoted as over £1000 for about 4 years. I had mine done when the car was jut over 2 years old, but it was covered under warranty. Repairs generally are so expensive I wouldn't run a car without a warranty or extended warranty. | ||

I owned a 2016 Picasso. To date this problem had surfaced 4 times as follows:- 1. Happen roughly 2018 when the "urea " and " emmission problem" alarm lighted up and the salesman who sold me the car advised me to run the car at high speed for at least 50km. I did that and the alarms went off. 2. Same thing happen 4 years into my arranty and the agent had both tank and injector replaced. 3. 2 weeks ago same issue, I ran the car at high speed and the alarms when off. 4. It happens again today and I plan to run my car tonight. Has anyone experience the same problem and have found a solution beside having the whole tank and injector replaced! |

Something odd here. The reason for running the car at high speed to clear the particle filter. This is potentially caused by issues with the EOLYS system causing the filter to block. This filter is located just in front of the engine by the turbo. Adblue is required to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions in the catalyst located under the car. No fast running will affect the catalyst. You really need to identify the issue. Does the 'distance until the vehicle will not start' appear. If not the Adblue system is probably ok. How many miles/km have you covered? EOLYS should last 80,000 miles/130,000km. The fluid is located in a pouch under the car near the fuel tank. | ||

Hoping you can help. We have a Citroen C4 Picasso Mk2 2016 HDi Blue. The Urea light has come on, so has the Engine Fault Warning and Emissions fault light. No Mileage warning has been observed as there usually is when running out of Adblue. I filled the Adblue tank with 10 Litres so it can't be that. I plugged in the simple OBD unit I have and the error message P20E8 came up, no others. I understand this to be a lack of pressure, which could be, the filter clogged (new tank may be needed), faulty injector but I understand this would probably have its own error message or some other problem which probably means new tank anyway. I am going to try some of the Wynns cleaner I've seen mentioned. Could the issue be caused by not having used the car much in the last few weeks and would a run be a good idea? I have considered the EOLYS but the fault code probably rules that out. Probably needs doing anyway as car has 92k plus miles on the clock. |

Well added the Wynns and after a short drive the Urea light went out. I cleared the other faults and all seemed well, unfortunately no longer, the problem came back after nearly a month, yesterday, tried the same fix again, no result as yet, perhaps it needs a further run etc, fingers crossed at the moment. |

Well, the problem seems to have gone away at the moment, just have to see how it goes to see if lasts. Just the one fault code P20E8 now gone. I suspect the filter was clogged up and the Wynns has now cleared it again, obviously needed 2 applications | ||
