 Hi Guys,
quick question please.
I have been diagnosed with needed a new clutch (and probably the flywheel as everyone recommends getting this done)

As my car is sadly not worth the £1000 plus bill - what will happen if I just leave it ? I don't drive mad no erratic gear changes and the worst that's happening at the moment and has for sometime to be honest is some juddering and jumping.

I am just going to go with the flow but any comments really appreciated.

 I bought a 2007 c4 picasso egs with bad clutch judder a couple of months ago as it was cheap(£450)and just had cambelt and full service, and only 75000 miles, have driven it a couple of thousand miles since , have put it on lexia/diagbox and recalibrated clutch bite point and re programmed gears, this worked for about a day each time, before judder came back again, so i am of the mind that its not necessarily clutch but more likely ecu/electronic gearbox problem, am currently looking for a cheap project grand picasso and as and when i do will try various things to cure egs judder on this car.
in the meantime i have learnt a few ways to reduce judder so that about 98% of the time i have no judder

the first is when moving off from standstill put the car into manual and select 2nd gear, then pull away(you should have no judder, then flick lever back to A(auto) tend not to do this as worried about extra stress on clutch.

the second thing is put electronic handbrake on everytime you pull away, and press lightly to engage clutch and then press firmly.

third thing(too avoid putting handbrake on) is to put left foot on brake pedal and press lightly on accelerator till clutch engages then take left foot off and move away,

4th and favourite way too avoid handrake and left foot use is to put throttle pedal hard to floor and release immediately to normal acceleration position, the auto lag is so slow that the car wont move at all intill your back in normal position, the clutch engages harder but no judder and after this the car seems to pull away with normal engagement but at the slightest sign of judder i resume the foot to floor sequence,
its suprising how quickly you adapt to driving the car to stop judder,
the worst time i find for judder is trying to crawl along in slow traffic, so now i just let the car in front move a way before i move off with handbrake on or left foot brake, or just do the fast press to floor and back,
when i first got car i worried about the sometimes savage judder , now it vary rarely has anything other than minor judder, how long it will keep going before it goes bang! is anyones guess , but i'm ok with it.
if you can get someone local to do clutch reset and gearbox calibration with lexia it might work for you and is worth a try.

Yes initially I'd thought gearbox and actually have a gearbox generic code - but took the car to a Citroen specialist in Rotherham on another issue as Id decided to live with the gearbox until it went pop (car not worth either repair) and he said it was more than likely the clutch.

I'm mean lets be honest 2007 car - Gearbox or £1K clutch repair are neither ideal.

Thanks for the tips - you are right stop start traffic on a hill the worst time. I've tended to disengage the handbrake - wait - then go rather than the one fluid movement of disengage and go straight away.
