First post-

I'm hoping some of you folks might shed some light on this.

I've recently got a 2017 grand picasso 1.6hdi eat6. It's making a noise a bit like a bad bearing but only in 2nd gear between 17mph & 21mph.
Its a rubbing/oscillating kind of noise (imagine rolling an oval egg over a wooden floor).

I'm inclined to think it's a gearbox issue as it only happens in 2nd gear. I'm fearing a big autobox bill coming

Any ideas?

Next step I guess will be take it to a specialist Indy.

Thanks

Update- main dealer said it may be water pump. had a new timing belt and water pump fitted under warranty. Didn't fix it.

The rubbing grinding noise now occurs at 1500rpm and increases frequency to a whine at 3000 rpm. It doesnt happen in neutral, only when I drive, so surely it's the gearbox.

This one is starting to drive me crazy.

3rd time back to the main dealer I guess.

By the way,

Does anyone know- is it possible to use the citroen usedapproved warranty with an auto-box independent? Or is it robins and day only?

Also
If anyone knows of a good citroen specialist in London let me know

Cheers

Take the auxiliary belt off. Give it a five-minute drive and see if the noise is still there. That would narrow it down a bit.

Thanks-
If it was the aux belt/systems wouldn't it have made that noise revving in neutral?

I dont understand engines a huge amount

I'd take it back n that case, and say they done work to fix it but it's still there.

Update- took it to a great independent garage. We took it round the block and they suggested its hard to say for sure but could be the driveshaft.

Did a bit of googling and found this video - Click Here -

So for anyone with this similar rotational noise-
Most likely the driveshaft support bearing.
