Hi All,

My car 1.6 e-HDi (115bhp) Airdream VTR+ 5d 2014/14

Recently the car has developed a problem where we are having to slam the clutch pedal down hard to get the ignition to work. When we first got the vehicle we has no such problem.

The problem gets worse when the car has already been used / is warm.

We took it to the local garage who are normally very good and they tried changing the switch for it and then bleeding and replacing the piston on the clutch pedal (it had been sticking when released). Neither have worked.

I wondered if anybody else has had this problem or if there is a fix.

Want to get it sorted before it doesn't start as slamming the pedal down can't be good for it.

Thanks.

Sticky return of the clutch pedal can be a symptom of clutch master cylinder beginning to fail ... almost certainly related ...

I'm guessing the switch for the Start button is deeper in the clutch mechanisms - that the one on the pedal arm is for cruise etc only - maybe?

This issue is caused by a recall issue. The clutch master cylinder clip on the pedal has to be replaced on the pedal with a new master cylinder. Mine was done free of charge at my local dealer.

I've contacted my local dealer about the issue but not heard anything back. Did you say anything in particular to get them to look at/sort it?

Getting to the point I can't start my motor and I've got the panel off so I could try and find the switch thinking that was the issue. Can't find it though.
