I have a 2016 C4 Picasso. Can I override the ' Economy Mode' action ? I am a volunteer driver and often sit outside doctors surgeries and hospitals waiting for patients. I would like to keep the radio on without having the engine running.

It is functioning as designed to do. You should get ~30 minutes before it cuts in, and you can get more time by restarting the engine and turning off again. It is not possible to turn it off in menus, and may not be possible using diagbox.

Thanks Routemaster1, I only get about ten minutes before ' Economy Mode' operates. Then if you restart the engine it only operates for a couple of minutes!

I'm a volunteer driver aswell, and can sometimes be waiting for an hour or more, I take a portable mp3 player and some headphones which also connect to my phone. Just an idea as at least it'll keep you company.

On a car from 2016, if the battery is the original it suggests that it either needs re-charging with a battery charger or is not able to keep a certain level of charge, so to protect the battery it turns off non essential items..
A brand new battery will give around 30 mins and Economy Mode initiates to save unnecessary drain that might mean the car won't start. So the shorter the time before that mode kicks in the lower the charge in the battery.
Just thought I'd mention it.

Not a lot you can do. If Economy Mode kicks in after 10 or less minutes, then your battery has below 100% charge, probably about 75%. Charge capacity declines with age. The life of a modern sealed for life car battery is about 5 years. The trouble is, they seem OK then completely fail. There is likely to be little indication that the battery is about to fail completely.

I speak from experience and having to call a friend to go and buy a new battery.

Yeah been caught out like this with other cars. I now proactively replace battery at 5 year mark to prevent getting stranded at a bad time!

You can run engine in idle for some time, while listening to music. Then turn it off, I didnt find any other way. That Economy mode is driving me crazy, on the other hand, it saves battery power

Economy Mode is there to ensure the battery has (hopefully) enough charge remaining to start the car .. if it's kicking in quickly, the odds are (as has been said) the battery's on its last legs (and the current cold-snap and short hops likely won't be doing it any favours either!).

I had a c5x7 and there was a setting that could be changed via diagbox that gave more time. Not sure if you can do it with these. I might try it myself and let you know.
