 I know these engines are quite rare in C4s and Picassos, but for those owners here or anyone who also has a different PSA car fitted with the 1.2 Turbo engine, you need to be aware of this issue. The 4th post by ChiliPepper is the relevant one. It shows the importance of using the correct spec oil in petrol engines. As far as I know it doesn't affect 2018 on cars, and may only concern turbo engines.

 Yes, it’s a common issue that seems to affect only certain ages due to an odd design (belt in oil) and poor spec of belt - I think earlier ones and later ones have a different belt material that doesn’t degrade if the incorrect spec of oil is used. It doesn’t affect the naturally aspirated engine, just the turbo’s.

It’s one of those things that if buying used a belt change needs to be a given.

 Not a case of how does it get in, it’s designed to go through oil - what could go wrong!
