Hi guys I have a C4 VTR plus registered on the 11/11/2011 .Last year it passed and the test limit applied was 1.5 l/m ..This time the garage has placed a nice new sticker on it stating 0.51 l/m and it failed with Mean Absorption coefficient of 1.03 l/M ...what I would like to know is the is plate value correct ? and also to me that seems a little low for a 2011 car..

I think the limit of 2.5 applies if the tester can’t find the manufacturers figure (which is invariably lower), this is on the type approval plate (the one that shows gross vehicle weight and gross towing weight etc) I suspect last year the tester didn’t have a quick look for the plate where as the one this year did.

MOT testers can’t remove anything to find them which is good news as my A2’s is under the carpet and the opacity, whilst not out of the park, is higher than the manufacturers figure...!
