I have an 09/59 facelifted C4 VTS+ that I'm trying to work out whether it has a DPF or not. It doesn't have FAP listed anywhere in the model, the tax is £125 a year (most my age seem to be £30).

I'm getting different answers when I search online. Some sites say they ALL have a DPF, others say on the models with FAP are the ones with a DPF.

Thanks,

Thanks,

FAP is the French equivalent of DPF', they are the same thing.

Thanks,

If your engine is petrol it has no DPF only Diesels.

VTR 1.6 HDI have a DPF

Early manual 1.6HDis did not use Eolys but those with EGS did.

- Click Here - to check. Your VIN indicates which engine you have.

FAP (French, filtre à particules) is the same as DPF (diesel particulate filter}

I think that all diesel versions from the 2008 facelift onwards have a DPF fitted, but I might be wrong. In case I am there's a couple of ways to check whether you have DPF model or not.

Easiest way on the 1.6 HDi is to check under the car to see if there's an additive tank (I believe it's next to the nearside rear wheel if fitted). On mine (non- DPFS) there's just a big empty space where the tank would normally go.

The second way to check the VIN. My VIN is V**LC9HYC******** where "LC9HYC" is the particular version of my car. If you have a DPF I believe the last three letters will be "HZ*". This is also listed in the V5C as 'Version'.

Hope that helps.

Phone up citroen, and ask for a bag of eolys for your reg number, they should know if it's needed or not.

I meant VTR+, and it's a manual!

Thanks, checked with my VIN and it doesn't have a DPF. It's strange, every other facelifted C4 I've looked at with my year/spec has the DPF and lower tax bracket. Blessing in disguise I guess!

Is it the 92PS version (5-gears) as opposed to the 110PS version (6-gears)? I think the latter got the DPF earlier, they were only a requirement from September 2011 sale if the car hadn’t been through type approval since September 2009 so it is likely the 92PS version either didn’t get one or got it later

I have the 110ps 5 speed manual, so that doesn't fit either of your options!
As listed on the V5: C4 Vtr + Hdi 107

Sounds like you need to look under the bonnet. The dpf ifs the large metal canister-like structure in front of the engine. You aught to be able to identify it easily. Just don't confuse it with the turbo.

Facelift 1.6 92ps HDI didn't have a DPF or at least mine didn't, and were £30 road tax.

1.6 110ps HDI I thought had DPF & £125 road tax, but could be wrong.

VTR, VTR+, VTS etc. are levels of trim and don't indicate any particular engine.

Your VIN is the best indicator of your car's spec. Registration numbers can be changed.
