I'm looking to buy a 2016/2017 Grand Picasso (automatic).
I'm looking in AutoTrader. Where else should I look?

Gumtree? Anywhere else?

Thanks.

A search on the Citroen used car site, Ebay will pull up many dealers/private sellers. Avoid any car that does not have a full Citroen service history.

If you buy from an approved Citroen Dealer, you will get a years warranty to the standard of a new car. Worth paying a bit extra for.

My limited experiences with Autotrader have all been very negative. Franchised dealers may be more expensive but their pre-sales checks and post-sales warranty are usually worth it.

I would definitely be looking at making sure you take out a warranty that covers main items, particularly electrical.

Citroen franchised dealers if a car is bought via them on their approve used schemes, will sometimes help with goodwill if you get any failures/problems, as you've stayed with them. Buying independently will save money, but you're on your own if something big fails.

As an example, a top screen failure will cost you £1000 in parts alone, so a £200 warranty might be advantageous!

3-4 years old is a fine stock of PCP returns, main dealers are the best place

The Citroen UK official site used car search is badly designed, perhaps the dealers are sloppy when they put details up. You need to persevere, and don't set too many filters. If you specify autos, some manuals turn up in the list, best not to specify and trawl through the lot. It's unnecessarily hard work but you often find decent deals and get an idea of 'fair price'.

PCP returns are a good suggestion. A lot come back after 3 years and in the current climate there might be defaults and returns before that. Finance houses sell at auction to dealers and warehouses who can make a tidy profit. Our C3 was an ex motability lease, 6 months old only 500 miles - sounds like a tragic tale but someone's going to buy it so might as well be me.

Against that, some are predicting strong demand for used cars as people want to commute by road and avoid public transport. 2016/7 is fine, if you get tempted by an earlier cheaper one check it's Euro 6 Blue Hdi (if diesel). early 2015 e-Hdi s will fall foul of the London ULEZ from Oct 21 (check TFL site for ULEZ expansion).

You could try calling a couple of dealers. I got mine from Worleys in High Wycombe - not my local dealer - they seemed to be able to get hold of ex Citroen UK cars. Mine was high-ish mileage 10 months old, from the undeleted satnav favourites looks like it was based at Northampton HQ and visited dealerships in the Midlands. Typical middle manager car. It was just pre-facelift so I guess Citroen wanted to move stock on to get new ones on the fleet.

Worth a dealer call, dealer search and a Citroen UK search, but remember some dealers (Robins & Day) are owned by PSA and you think you are looking at local stock only to find its miles and miles away.

It might be worth looking at other marque main dealers. We wanted a particular car - 1.0 Ford Tourneo Connect - for our son as in inexpensive way to transport percussion instruments. (Picasso floor is too high to get the Timpani in) Looked for ages and saw some real rubbish, then chanced on one in a Vauxhall main dealership in Great Yarmouth. They had taken it in part Ex, 3 years old, and just wanted rid as their used forecourt was 95% Vauxhall. We got a good price, good dealer experience and a full Network Q 2 year warranty + recovery so it was reassuring.

Good luck.
