Hi Folks, I was doing my discs and pad on my C4 and done the front no problem but went to do the back ones and looks like previous owner had a go them self's but failed badly cause driver side rear carrier torque head bolts are rounded. Am gonna replace them just to see if anybody knew the size of the bolts and any help to get those bolts out would be appreciated. Thanks Dave |

I'd get them from citroen, caliper bolts are usually fine thread and high tensile bolts.

Aw ok my apologies I thought you were meaning different types of trx. It's defo a trx on it I do have them but it just jumps it if I even try it. It's limited room to hammer a socket on it too.

A Screw Remover/Extractor is your best bet. But you'll need a heavy duty version.

Usually big bolts like that are the female torx, that need the "E-xx" sockets to remove

Last one I had to get out came out with heat to destroy the grip from the thread lock and then I welded a nut onto the bolt by which time it came out easilly - next one I'll try just the nut first as the heat from welding may well do the job of loosening the thread lock as well

Hey guys good news got the bolts out with some good old fashion heat and a 9/16 socket hammered over the bolts and bingo they come out. So all new discs, pads and new sliders for the carriers since both sides had one seized. Happy with my result big thanks to you guys for all the help. Much appreciated 👍🏻 av put some pictures on to show you my work 😁 |
