Hi, I have a C4 Picasso VTR 1.6 Blue HDi auto. Jan 2016 with 22,000 miles. Have had it for two months but only average 42/44mpg around town, 52/55mpg on a run.
No difference if I use the 'flappy paddles'
Reviews indicate should be from 65 to 80mpg. I appreciate mfrs figures are near impossible to achieve but this seems a big difference. Is this normal ? Many thanks

Those are pretty much the same figures that I got with a similar car to yours, which I think are pretty good for a car of this size and weight. Driving very carefully high 50’s to 60 ish are possible on a run.

PS...I never particularly drove for economy

My average over 6500 miles is 56.8 but before my drive to Spain I put a can of a Diesel additive "CataClean Diesel" whilst in Spain, The Car did 64.7 mpg (there & back) even now 3500 miles later, I am getting 60mpg + with doing a lot of short journeys so will expect it will drop till I start doing my 180 mile round trip each week

Similar model here
Mrs with heavy foot gets about 40mpg on school runs / city driving etc
I tend to get far more on the occasions I use it, coming close to 70mpg on fully-laden long runs ... that said, I'm converting back to freedom-units so YMMV
(Average school-run consumption is 7.1 litres / 100km - long runs I see numbers in the 3.7 to 4 per 100 range sustained)

You can't rely on the readout on the car trip computer nor the phone app. Each one is about 2 mpg optimistic. I just keep a miles and fill amount record, that is not wholly reliable in the short term because you never fill it to exactly the same point and some filling stations are not flat. So, my spreadsheet calculates mpg between fills, moving average over last 5 fills and whole life since I've had it.

Mines a manual.

I rarely hurry along in town, on long trips (some of which are very long, 500 miles in a day) I cruise at indicated 70-80 along with the rest of the traffic and over the whole life of the car the amount of uphill exactly matches the amount of downhill.

Consumption is remarkably consistent - 23k mile average 46.5, moving average of 5 fills never above 47, never below 45. Trip computer never matches.

It's about what I expected and not bad for a big lump of car, but nowhere near the published theoretical figures.

PSA publish real world figures - seems absent from the Citroen UK website but the French one will do. You can refine the answer to suit your usage, but the basic answer for mine is 48.2 mpg, which makes my numbers about right. Generally if I go to France I seem to get a bit better than here, outside the cities there is less congestion and more bowling along instead of stop start traffic. The real world for the EAT6 is about 10% worse (even though the theoretical is the same or better) so the original posters numbers seem about right.

Have a play here: the models & trims don't match up exactly but Feel is mid spec and you guess from there. I think Shine = Exclusive/Flair.

At 28K miles my C4P averaged 53.7 mpg over the past 2169 miles, in a mix of short and longer journeys. I live in a very hilly area and notice that consumption improves a lot on flatter journeys. A recent fast 91 miles from kent to Wiltshire returned 64mpg, and if I keep it down to 60mph then low 70's mpg are common on warm days.

Mine is a 2014 C4GP 1.6hdi 115hp manual and has averaged 57.6mpg measured full to full over the last 130,000 miles. Most journeys are around 40 miles with 85% on the motorway at 70mph. If I cruise at 60mph I average nearly 70mpg on a tank for similar journeys. The trip computer used to be around 5 - 10% optimistic but, following a dealer software update last year, the computer is now always 5-10% pessimistic. I nearly always fill with Costco diesel. Even when I have a roof box , towbar mounted cycle carrier with 4 bikes and fully laden with 4 passengers and a load of camping gear the car has always managed at least 50mpg. I tend to drive at the speed limit.
