The towing weight will be on the VIN plate.

I've not heard about needing an uprated fan.

The towing capacities should be listed in the handbook. This will vary depending upon the engine, transmission and body type. Don't forget to factor in your payload (equipment, passengers, etc). The link below gives specifications for most caravans made in the last 30 years up to 2016. Newer caravans should have the specs available online or the handbooks available for download from the manufacturer's website. If you're viewing a caravan the capacities will be stamped on a plate attached to the caravan somewhere (this varies depending upon the make and model).

No, you don’t need to uprate your fan in any way - I would advise getting dedicated electrics for the functionality and CANBUS interoperability but you can get away with a bypass relay if you wish

As for the towing weight the manual will tell you but it doesn’t give you the full picture - check your VIN plate on the car and simply subtract the second figure (GTW - gross train weight) from the top figure (GVW - gross vehicle weight) and this gives you the braked towing capacity. I would add that PSA often allow you to trade some payload with the braked weight so looking at the manual will largely give you a figure 200kg-ish higher. For example, our old DS4 was rated to 1550kg but if the car was full to GVW this dropped to 1350kg which was still enough for our 1300kg van.

As for your license, if you passed your driving test before 01/01/1997 then you can tow what you like but after that date you need to take a B+E license if the plated GVW of the car and the plated MTPLM of the caravan add up to over 3500kg irrespective of what it actually weighs. I very much doubt a lightweight 2-berth van on the back of a 1.6 C4P will get near that.

EDIT;

Forgot to add, enjoy! I wish we had kept our old DS4 1.6HDi but decided to ‘upgrade’ to a 2.0HDi 150 ‘blue’ which wasn’t as good mainly as the gearing was far too long and the engine goosed it’s head gasket (a cooling fault on this engine); the C4P has shorter gearing and I think your outfit will be great.

Cheers Frank had 3 BX's two 19RDs and one 17 TD, two Xsara Picasso's and no trouble with any of them and all did in excess of 100k. Both Xsaras never failed an MOT ever (no not bent ones) Love this Picasso now it is like an armchair on wheels and I don't know why French cars get such a bad press.

I wasn't sure of the weight of a car, I know our sedona weighed in at 2.2 ton, and that some new c4 picassos look similarly sized.

Nowhere near! Between 1.2 and 1.4 tons, according to the online manual.

It’s the GVW that matters not the kerb weight or unladen weight.

The manual shows the towing limit as 1500kg but 1200kg at GVW
