According to the Citroen website the European map update is 42028.zip which I think is 2019-1.

The latest map is 42050.zip which is 2019-2.

I know I can find this latest map update on unofficial websites, but does anyone know why the official website is not up to date?

Maybe because the 2019-2 will not fit because need more space for all the maps update ?

Hi Richard,

That link is the page I always use, but if you see my screenshot here, it is still the 2019-1 file.

I don't get offered the 42050 zip

Further to my last message, I thought the issue might be down to me using a bookmark on my PC for this page, so I started from scratch, entering in my VIN. Now the webpage tells me that map update program has ended!!
I was told the free map updates were for 5 years (my car is just turned 4 years old).

I have contacted Citroen Customer Care for comment.....not holding breath

I've just tried it for my DS4, using my VIN I am offered 42050.zip. My DS4 is from 2016. But you are right free map updates are for 5 years.

Previously I've always used the DS app on my phone to get map updates, the last was 42028.

Just checked the app and it has the same update.

If I look at the mycitroen app on my android phone, which I don't really use anymore because connection is erratic at best, the 'car' icon throws up a menu, vehicle touchscreen page says free download until 30 August 2021. I guess that will be 2021-1, too soon to get 2021-2. Nice and specific. Late pre-facelift, registered Jan 16 so that's consistent with original 6 months worth plus 5 years worth of updates.

Assuming a '15 registration you should get at least 2020-1.

When mine expires I won't be buying any. If I pop my phone in a vent holder and use android auto on the phone to get a nice clean screen display and good voice commands - we all know car screen won't support android auto but it works stand alone as well - I end up with infinitely better real time traffic information and good or better mapping, plus it zooms with vehicle speed. Even with the latest update the underlying map data on SMEG is 12 months old at least. I guess apple carplay would do the same as android auto.

Well I don't know why in my case I don't get the 42050 version. I have left a case with Citroen Customer Care to follow up.

Well I have now had a reply from Citroen Customer Care. They simply told me to use the link (that I have been using for the past 3 years) and download the update...a great help!!

I called Customer Care again, and this time they said that 42028 was the latest for my 2015 C4 GP. So perhaps the 42050 map update is not suitable for my car. Can anyone here tell me if that could be correct?

Can't imagine why.

Might be a lets say anything to get him off the phone, or more likely we haven't got a clue either.

Suggest you email once more and say "I am aware of other owners who have successfully downloaded 42050, can you please provide an explanation and escalate this to a technical specialist. 2019-2 should be well within the promise of 5 years free updates"

I downloaded the later one but haven't loaded it in car yet - car been in my garage and no desire to kill myself with fumes. Will do it over weekend and let you know what happens.

Mine is Jan 16 registered, looks like a late 15 build.

I have a 2016 C4 GP first generation. Have downloaded the 42050 - 2019-2 Not from Citroen site and made the update this week. It worked without problem only could not make all the maps because I needed 1.2Tb more. So next step is to upgrade the internal memory.

Hope it helps.

Just done the update for the countries I wanted/needed.

Now shows UK version 114.0, not sure if that is different from before because I forgot to look first (sorry).

Hi Richard, thank you for the info.

I have just checked my UK map in the car and it is V 113.0, so not the 2019-2 update. Perhaps you get the update because your car is 2016 reg?

I have taken your suggestion and written to Citroen Customer Care asking them to escalate the issue.

I did speak to Reece Hamill the other day, who said he was in the Connected Services team. All he told me was that if I went to the map update site and entered my VIN and it shows 42028, then that was the only one for my car. He would not help any further.

I would happily send you 42050.zip, but suspect that is useless without the activation code which changes with each edition.

My system version is the original one, SMEG5.4.A.R3 dated 25 08 15, never felt the need to update it, so although the registration is 2016 it may not be any older than yours. Update before last it told me not enough memory so I deleted some central and eastern europe that I doubt I will ever use - can always add them in one by one - and it all fits nicely now. 8Gb system of which 7 point something is available for map data.

If any more information helps with your quest just ask, will do my best. Do let us know what happens.
