evening all, i got c4 sx hdi auto 1.6 recently been sounding a bit tappy on the top end, sorted that by oil change (fingers crossed) today have a continual noise sounding like a ball bearing swilling round in a tin mug, the noise quietens down a little when in gear/driving but not so that it cant be heard, no loss of power no lights up on dash, just wondered if anyone come across same, thinking it maybe clutch(converter)/gearbox noise ps 93k milage thanks kev |

However, sneaky [%*^#@!], to save room, instead of the two cams having large wheels as per a timing belt, the second cam is driven by a chain. The chain tensioner start to wear around 90k and if you're really lucky, change the oil often and don't thrash the pants off it, it might go to around 110k or more. However, if you plan on keeping the car, get the chain, tensioner and timing belt kit changed. The good news is they do tend to get really, really noisy before they let go quite spectacularly. And by really noisy, I mean ball bearings in a can being shaken by an over exuberant charity collector |
