Hi. I have problems with my 2009 C4GP. The issue appears as warning lights for ABS, ESP, Handbrake and Gearbox. The car has the EGS semi auto box, and will not change up in Auto and will only change to max of 3rd in manual. I believe this is the limp mode activating (please confirm). There are no nasty sounds from the box, which also changes down in auto fine and will change to higher gears if you put it in neutral first. I have Lexia and Diagbox which indicates the car thinks the front N/S wheel is travelling at 255kph. They also advise a Short circuit to positive or short circuit to earth or open circuit. I suspect all the problems/warnings come from this fault. What I have done: 1. replaced brake switch (before lexia) 2. checked gearbox selector oil (before lexia) 3. replaced the N/S ABS sensor 4. Checked the continuity of the wires to N/S sensor 5. connected a replacement ABS unit, but gives same errors I'm now at a bit of a loss of what to do next. I wonder whether I should be checking any current at the n/s ABS connector, but I'm not sure what readings I'm looking for. Or would checking on the multi connector at the ABS unit be better (not sure how I could do that though when it's connected to ABS unit) Thanks for any suggestions as to what to try next. |

What's the fault code from diagbox? I would also check the wiring behind the battery. |

Thanks, forgot that I had done that. I had looked at the wiring following the stuff found in this video - Click Here - . I couldn't see any obvious faults, and as I tested the continuity I thought all was OK. It doesn't help that the twisted pairs for ABS seem to have the same colour. I did try to track back from where it goes through the inner wing, I did not manage to check it all, due to location. Fault codes: C1320, C139D |

FIXED! So after months of head scratching, removing various parts, trying a replacement ABS sensor, a replacement ABS ESP unit and lots of other stuff it came down to a faulty connector. The faulty connector was actually the obvious one in the wheel arch area. Essentially the ABS sensor plug pins were not connecting properly with the car's female socket, so I dismantled the socket (take off the grey front part leaving you with the connectors held in place by a couple of plastic tabs. The rear bits pull out (though I did cut the hinged plastic clip at the rear to get everything out). Adjust the connector so it grips better (bend the couple of side indents further in) Reassembled and all codes have gone! Oh, and for any of you that are looking to disassemble the wires out of the main ABS ESP multi pin connector on the main ESP ABS unit, the grey/brown plug housing slides to remove it. Then you need to remove the little white/grey clip from the end of the connector and use one of the empty holes to push an internal retainer back before you can remove any of the individual wires from the connector. |

Do you have any photos of the misbehaving sensor or of its location? I presume it will be located beneath the n/s wheel arch trim? Mine seems to be displaying the exact same symptoms as yours did, so this could save me a fair bit of searching!! Rob |

im having the same problem after getting work done on the front surspention its been to 3 diffirent garages who cant find the problem abs cables have been changed and when i took it for its ct (french mot) they unplugged and reconnected the abs cables and it now takes a couple of min driving before the faults appear and the auto gearbox will suddenly start working and then stops again . so i think it might be a connection problem. where can i find the obvious connectors to check . thanks lara | ||||

Bonjour Lara, im not sure what happened after the suspension change since I did that on mine car. On each wheel, there is a magnetic ring and beside it there is a sensor. They are giving speed readings to the ECU(each wheel separately). If reading is not correct, it will trigger this fault. You need to remove each wheel and check behind brake disk for the ring and sensor. I would personally check each with multimeter so see if there is voltage coming. Hi same problem just happened to my 2012 grand c4 picasso. Was driving down to durham from earlston nd suddenly lights flashing all over dash, gearbox error, abs error, parking break error, seek immediate assistance etc. car would not engage gears in auto but would do 1-3 in manual so limped to hotel in durham. Next morning did reset 0000 plus key and drive home with no further problems. But it has happened again and again reset worked. Car is driving smoorth as silk 156000 on clock. Not sure whether to scrap it or not, love the car. Will watch the video, thanks fior these posts | ||||

I had this message pop up once or twice a year. In my case it was brake pedal switch, which activates rear brake lights. I swapped that new Swag with used factory switch, never had this issue again. Limp mode can be a lot of things. Diagbox can scan this error since it is triggered by ABS. Cheap diagnostic cant see it since it is not in engine ECU. Buy second hand factory switch, new one's are rubbish. | ||||
