Hi all, I have a C4 Picasso, 13 plate, 1.6 Diesel.

I was trying to use the VIN to work out which specific engine I have, using the FAQ guide on the site: - Click Here -

Unfortunately my VIN doesn't match any of those listed.

Mine is VF7 **9HR.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Seems like the FAQ needs updating....

That’s because all those on the link are the old 16v engine, yours is the newer 8v.

If you have the first C4 Picasso then it’s the 110bhp 1.6 8v engine, a lower powered version was never brought to the UK. If you have the newer Picasso (B78 which came out in summer 2013 so some on a 13-plate) then you either have the 90 or 115bhp engine - the simplest way to tell the difference is that the lesser powered engine has a 5-speed manual, the more powerful one a 6-speed manual although ETG models both had 6-speed.

Thanks,

It's the older MK1 and it's a 5 speed Automatic, so will that be the 110bhp 1.6 8v?

It is the other way round. Older engines were 16 valve. The 8 valve version came in about the time the cars were facelifted in ~2010. The power output was nominally the same.

I think OP means older as in not the B78 (it’s 2013) so yes, it is the 110bhp 1.6HDi 8v but if it’s the 5-speed auto then a) it’s an automated manual EGS and b) it’s missing a gear as they are all 6-speed!

You are absolutely correct, it is 6 speed. Thanks for the help.
