The AdBlue Warning came on this morning. It said starting would become impossible in 1500 miles.

I went straight to my local cart parts shop, and bought 10L of AdBlue.

The manual and also the AdBlue cap both said add at least 3.8L needs to be added. I poured in 4L and there was still space. 6L - still space. 10L still space!?

Anyway, after 10L I am still getting the AdBlue warning. Does it take time for the AdBlue to work it's way through the system? How long should it be before the warning disappears?

Thanks

When I refilled mine it took several starts of the engine for the warning to disappear over 2 days.

The nominal volume of the tank is 17L. At what mileage did the alarm appear. It should last ~14,000 miles. If it is significantly less than that, there may be an issue with the Adblue pump, which will potentially require a new tank. If there is this fault and the warning doesn't disappear within a week or so, you will need to get it looked at under warranty.

The above video about topping up is interesting.

I know in the (P84) Peugeot 3008 range with the PSA diesel engine fitted, it is a bit random if the light goes out or not, immediately after topping up, or after a few days. This video makes mention of that as well.

On the latest Euro 6.2 engine, which I have on my second 3008 EAT8, Adblue top ups are deemed to be like fuel/screen wash top-ups. The official blurb (now a full page article in the price guide) for any of these newer diesel engines, it says that Adblue top up will be required around 3,500 miles / after 7 fuel fill-ups!

One of the issues with Euro 6 cars is they didn’t use enough Adblue to provide the emissions management required in much normal driving - EU6 trucks glugg it like they are going out of fashion and so Euro 6.2 cars do too!

Thanks. That makes me feel a bit better. I'll wait and see for a few days.

I've done 13,800 so ~14,000 fits. I might get another 10L canister to completely fill it.
