Sorry if this has been posted before just need to know if the preheat light comes on at all, ive had the car since last November and ive never seen it work, car always starts but smokes a bit when started cold and smells of un burnt diesel.Any response greatly appreciated. |

The glow plugs don't activate until the temp gets to about -5 | ||

In some 10 years owning C4s, I saw the glow plug warning lamp come on twice. On both occasions the temp was below -5°C. The best advice is put the key in, switch on, wait 20-30 seconds for the pre-flight check to be carried out, turn the key and the car will start. Drive off ASAP. |

Only once saw the light in 7 years with my original C4p. Not seen it in the past 4 years with the Airdream.If the engine smokes when cold then there are a few things to check. Always use a low ash fully synthetic oil and do not overfill the sump. Check the air filter is not clogged and consider using an injector cleaner before each service. |
