I thought the reason for stop/start was to reduce pollution, not on saving money on fuel | ||

There are several types of stop start technology. Not all are as responsive as the PSA system. |

The one on our C4 Picasso (if it ever works again) will operate in neutral with the clutch up at below 12mph; if you drift downhill in neutral it will restart at 12mph. The one fitted to our now dead C3 would only operate when absolutely stationary and restarted as soon as the wheels moved. It would also restart with a tug on the steering wheel, which does not happen in the Picasso. Whether the 1.6 HDi Picassos are the same as the 2.0HDis, I don't know! |

1.6 HDi here : early-2016 build date Acts more like the C3 you mention Dead Stop / Neutral / Clutch out == Eco (Stopped) assuming battery / load etc conditions are also met * Open Passenger door (bonnet release side) : Starts (Safety thing) * Wheels move (coasting / rolling) : Starts * Engage Power Steering : Starts * Increased load on electrical system (heated seat turned on) : Starts |

I wonder if this extends to other models, or even to Peugeots. We have just got a C3 Puretech 1.2 110bhp turbo petrol. The stop/start seems to be very similar to the diesel C3, but I haven't had it long enough to spot any difference. |

On my 2014 C4GP EAT6, stop/start only activated when the speed of the car was 0mph and I’d stopped moving, My first new 2017 Peugeot 3008 GT 180EAT6 was exactly the same. On my current 2018 3008 GT 180EAT8 it now cuts the engine when slowing down (around 12mph) and the engine is off before I’ve even stopped. Within the PSA range there are certainly differences between stop/start behaviours depending on which engine is fitted to the car and manual and auto gearboxes: On the new 3008 range, 1.5 and 2.0 180 Bluehdi EAT8 cut the engine at below 12mph. On manual gearboxes it’s below 2mph All very confusing. |
