Hi, My Wife recently reversed into a gate post and broke the drivers wing mirror on our 64 plate (2015 New Model) C4 Grand Picasso. Its not completely broken and the indicator, mirror and power adjust still work, its just a little floppy. I'm looking to fix it and just wondered if anyone had had similar problems or could answer a few questions? 1.) The Dealer is insistent that i need a full new mirror assembly at approx £500, even thought the majority still works. Do you know if Citroen sell the internal components? 2.) I can get a mirror assembly off the net for approx £200 but this is a power fold model. I'm fairly sure that our car isn't a power fold (its never folded them when we lock it), and the dealer tells me that its a generic mirror assembly and that there will just be extra wires in the connecting block and that it will work fine on a manual fold. Is this the case? Thanks in advance |

That's the usual dealer response. From their point of view it's easier to fit a new one and give a warranty rather than spend hours doing a repair they can't or won't guarantee. If you're thinking DIY, then see if you can find a similar mirror in a scrapyard. It probably won't cheap and beware, there are many variations of mirror. |

Thanks - Looks like i will end up with a whole new mirror, but £500 is very expensive for what i practice is probably a £5 widget. I may still follow up with the scrappies to see if i can salvage the majority of the existing mirror - case etc and repair ti all or ebay it! I'm probably thinking of second hand or after market mirror and getting the local garage to fit. I'm short on time and to be honest dont want to start prising stuff off or apart to diagnose the problem and potentially be left without any mirror at all. At least what we have now is semi functional as the duck tape is doing a good job! I will probably do the diagnosing once i have a new mirror assembly, but still not sure on the power fold issue. - I don't want to buy the power fold model and to then find out that it fits physically but none of the functions work as its got different connector blocks |

If you are looking about for second hand ones, I noticed that the C3 Aircross has the same mirror as my 2015-6 un-grand Picasso, and at least one of the Peugeots does as well (2008, 508? sorry don't recall exactly). You might have better chance than you think especially as you can re-use your painted bits. | ||||

You may find one on eBay I had a similar problem with a "Puddle Light" and bought a complete wing mirror just to get a LED bulb which I bought on eBay. Its a shame mine was on the passenger side as I now have a spare mirror the blind spot version. But I have seen mirrors on on eBay and many other sites and they not very expensive |

The part that's broken is a sacrificial part - though you can't get it separately (DAMHIK! ) Any OEM version from a breakers yard will have it: To fit is fiddly though: * Remove painted mirror cover, and the mirror glass * Looking inside you'll see a turquoise 'ring', spring and a black plastic "tube" - this plastic is the hinge-pin that's likely broken and causing the problem To replace (assuming you can get the part) * Fold back mirror (back and glass removed again) * Undo the small torx screw holding the mirror unit to the base * Fold forward the mirror - undo the other torx screw * Assemble the parts (base, unit, spring, "pin" and washers) and compress the spring (threaded nut and some large rubber washers were my method * All locks into place with a quarter turn clockwise when successful * Redo the torx nuts - harder to do now, be gentle folding back and forward! Job's done ... For me, with the 360 vision, it's an €800 assembly for the mirror - same plastic pin (about 3" long and 1" dia) on the cheapest model from a breakers yard did the job, but still not cheap for what's ultimately a €5 part |
