Engine cut out and stopped while driving, no other fault appeared. Car would not then restart, turning fine just would not start. Dealer is telling me it is a faulty Speed Sensor. Would this cause such a fault? Should I be worried this could be something likely to reoccur? Not a pleasant experience to lose power while driving.

Oh well 32 views and no comments or answers? Have the car back, speed sensor on side of engine appears to have been knocked loose by the drive belt - so I am being told. This it appears and I know no better would have caused the engine to stop and not restart. I find this worrying and dangerous. Anyone out there with any knowledge about the speed sensor?

That sounds bizzar that a drive belt should be allowed to interfere with other components of the car causing you the issue that you had, but probably no more bizzar than my wiring loom disintegrating and causing numerous faults to occur out of the blue.

Hi all
Just if anyone else read this thread, yes the cranksensor can cause a no start issue as it is the way the engine know where it is and where the injection timing will need to be! - I currently have the same issue -

A 2010 C4 GP with the 2.0 HDI Dw10 engine, RHJ version - It drove kinda fine, have a leaky injector ( i think ) that cause white smoke on startup - but have been running - i then had a ignition key problem where it could not turn the key and remove the steering wheel lock - well removed the ignition key barrel and made some contacts - car ran fine and well for some days --

Now it wont start - it turns over - there is no engine light, if i remember correct there was no fault codes, i will try the Diagbox later to see what happens, i had expected a fuel tank pump, but mine dont have any - I have seen some small brass looking tiny flakes in the fuel filter housing and thoght that was from the fuel tank pump -- but there is none as mine have the primer ball in engine bay..

Diagnose -
when open the door, the car dont have this prime sound it use to have - am not entirely sure what make this sound! thought it was the fueltank pump..

The engine turn over quite fast, it is somewhat vibrating, think the engine have some different compression ratios, it has gone 450000 km.

The engine dont start, just keep going and going..

I made so i need to hold the transponder in the key at the antenna, then i could start it with homemade contacts, if the transponder is too far away it will give a fault in the display - something like electic fault in emobiliser -- so i dont expect it to be an immobiliser fault.

Suspect now:
1 - crankssensor - it control the timing og ignition.
2 - high pressure pump and some error in the HP or LP circuit, or fuel
pressur regultor dont open or turn the pressure up, on the autocom i
read the fuel pressure ( in the common rail ) to 135 bar, it kinda
look like the reference here is 265 bar but measured is lower.

I have bought a Renault laguna 1.5 dci as we need a car ( or two ) and always liked renaults ( sorry guys ) but would like to have the citroen starting as it would be much easier to scrap, sell ( have a year of MOT on it still ) or just move !!
