Hi all,

Got a issues with my 08 C4GP 1.6hdi excl (with DPF) with the 6 speed auto gearbox car has been to a local garage and even they are stumped

So far they have checked the turbo which is fine turbo pipes etc all fine ( brand new one fitted at 90k so only 10k done on it) and DPF for blockages etc and the exhaust system, auto box and clutch are fine as well

Basically when accelerating there is a loud hiss coming from the engine bay, kind of sounds like air escaping. And when going into gears 4-5-6 the power is gone it feels like there is no more power after approx 50mph will get up to 70mph etc but takes forever.

All services have been done on time and next one is due in the next 500 or so miles.
Car has just had its MOT and no issues with emissions etc and with no mechanical advisory’s either!

Anyone have any thoughts about what I could be!

Thanks
James

If there's a lack of power then I would inspect the turbo system or take it to another garage.

That’s the strange thing though there is plenty of boost/power but the hissing noise goes then a lack of power. I want to check the turbo pipes myself is there any that are more prone to failing. OR the best place to start looking pipe wise?

Could it be a loose injector seal?

I had a similar noise after the last service. I discovered that the air filter housing lid was not located correctly.

I would agree with the injector theory I remember this on a Berlingo

Hey all,

Some greats things there but... 😂
Have had the entire air filter system upto then back of engine and to the front passenger side head light out air filter changed etc, still there.

Injector seals.. noticed a bit of oil from the rocker gasket and have changed that plus all the injector seals at the same time.

It’s driving me mad get it on a workshop hoist and lift it up and rev it in neutral it the noise is very hard to hear.

But when on the road and in drive it’s there every time. I have located the noise to just below the oil filter casing on the bottom left of the engine (1.6 hdi) have visually checked all pipes (possibly a boost air leak)

Things I have checked/done

Have done a full DPF clean
EGR taken out and scrubbed clean (this is what I thought the issues was)
All injector seals changed rocker gaskit changed
Turbo has been tested and checked at a garage ( is nearly new anyway has less than 10k on it)

Any thing else I might have missed?

Hi James, appreciate that it's been a while, but, did you ever solve this hissing issue? I'm having exact same issue, and two garages have been unable to source the issue. Cheers.
