I know it quite a common problem on earlier cars and its happened to me now. I had both the boot lock and the handle/micro switch off at the weekend looking for anything obvious. The where both cleaned up as best I could re-fitted and still nothing. So which is more likely to fail, the lock itself or the handle/micro switch. As I will be selling the car in the next few months I don't really want to spend a fortune on it now. Can the micro switch be replaced on its own? How easy is it to get off? Thanks. |

|know it sounds obvious, but is the plastic flap you touch pressing on the microswitch all the time? The springiness on the flap goes with age and that's what happens. I fixed mine with a bit of foam rubber under the flap to hold it out. If this is not the case, I think I may have a microswitch you can have, but will have to wait till the weekend for me to have a look for it. |

With mine it wasn't the microswitch or lock motor, it was the wiring loom fraying apart inside the cable tube between the hatch and car body.

As soon as I touch/move the plastic flap I can hear the micro switch "click" but nothing is happening. If the offer of a switch is still available I would like to have it. Let me know the cost of postage to WA8 7PX and I will pay you. Thanks again. |

I can't remember if it was attached to the hatch panel or not. |

I thought on finding the wires to the switch, then installing a set of extended wires to the front of the car and a microswitch in the glove box. Then if the boot switch fails I'll be able to open it and fix it....
