My original 7+ years old battery has been slowly failing over the winter and yesterday, whilst out, just started the car at the 3rd attempt. As we knew that the next time we would be starting the car was likely to be in a multi-storey car park, late at night and probably in the dark, it was definitely time to get a new one.

Google suggested that the nearest place offering a suitable battery at a suitable price was ATS, so we drove straight there.

Half an hour later, we drove out with a new heavy duty 027 battery with a 3 year warranty for £99.

The mechanic was pretty familiar with C4s and had everything disconnected and removed in a few minutes. Mind you he did curse a lot and asked why they couldn't have positioned the battery 20cm further forward and re-positioned all the circuitry which sits on top.

When he gave me the receipt and guarantee, he said, "Any problems with it, you can go to any ATS - except this one!".

Full marks to ATS in Frodsham.
