I like to know with any car I get how far it will go when the fuel red line has been reached.

I could find nothing online about it so hope others will find this...when they search.

By the way readers if the 1.6 Hdi diesel does run out of fuel, you will most likely have to bleed the system, read the manual, but essentially

Put your reserve 5 litres into the car.

Open the bonnet.

If necessary, unclip the styling cover for access to the priming pump.

Squeeze and release the priming pump repeatedly until resistance is felt (there maybe resistance at the first press).

Operate the starter until the engine starts (if the engine does not start at the first attempt, wait around 15 seconds before trying again).

If the engine does not start after a few attempts, operate the priming pump again then start the engine.

Clip the styling cover back in place.

Close the bonnet

*when you press the start button and it does not start, it keeps trying to start for a long time, I suggest pressing the start button again to switch it off after 3 - 5 seconds, then do as above instructions.

My report:

How long or how far will the 1.6 Hdi Picasso diesel go after the fuel warning appears?

And the answer is ...I don't know because it did not run out....
but

The tank on a C4 holds about 60 litres including filler neck
In the same way that 5 litre fuel cans hold about 8 litres
And in both if you wait a few minutes for the foam to go down you will get more in. i.e. Another 5 litres in the tank.

A C4 diesel will drive for at least 85 miles after the first fuel warning with 40 miles displayed remaining.
And at least 45 miles after the fuel gauge starts to flash.
